Babu Ganesha

Ganesh is also known as Ganapati, Vinayaka, Lambodara and Pillaiyar, is one of the best known and most worshipped deities in the Hindu pantheon and is the Supreme God in the Ganapatya sect. His depictions are found throughout India. Hindu denominations worship him regardless of affiliations. Devotion to Ganesha is widely diffused and extends to Jains and Buddhists and beyond India.

Although Ganesha has many attributes, he is readily identified by his elephant head and four arms. He is widely revered, more specially as the remover of obstacles and bringing of good luck, the patron of arts and sciences and the deva of intellect and wisdom. As the God of beginnings, he is honoured at the start of rites and ceremonies. Ganesha is also invoked during writing sessions as a patron of letters and learning.

Ideally, a Ganesha idol in Lalitasana (sitting posture) is preferred to be worshipped at home which symbolises as a peaceful demeanour and inspires a calm environment in home. One can also go for a Ganesha idol in a reclining or reasting posture which represents comfort and affluence. As positive energy and good fortune can be felt from the outside, hence, make sure that the positioning of the statue is such that Lord Ganesha is facing the entrance of a house. This will ensure that the obstacles are removed from the path of the person entering the home and that the good omens are brought in.

Keeping all these good aspects in mind, I have made this sitting Ganesha based on Bengali “Babu culture” by name ‘Babu Ganesha’, which one can worship to maintain peace and calm environment in home.
