Goddess who killed the buffalo-demon is worshipped throughout India. Shiva, Vishnu and other gods Presented Durga with their respective powers to overcome Mahishasura.
The Panther
A brass lion-form incense burner – copy of a 12th century, Khurasan, Iran. In Iran during the 1000s and 1100s, Vessels in the shape of animals gained popularity, especially as incense burners. Felines were favoured in Persian art and this piece may represent a caracal, a type of lynx.
The head of the creature was cast separately and is removable to fill its body with hot coal and incense. The diffusion of perfumed smoke through the burner’s pierced palmetto design may have served as a sensorial reminder of this teaching.
Shiva
Shiva Sukhasanamurti, copy of a 15th – 16th century one. This manifestation shows Shiva holding an axe and deer in his back hand, symbol of his sure victory over enemies and domination over animals.
The gesture (mudra) of his front hands offer devotees protection (abhaya) and wish fulfilment (Varada).

What is GI?
A Geographical Indication (GI) is a sign used on products that have a specific geographical origin and possess qualities or reputation that are due to that origin. The GI tagged products are "Invaluable treasures of Incredible India" and aims to build confidence amongst the buying community. Some of the examples of registered Indian GIs are Kolhapuri Chappal, Kashmir Pashmina, Darjeeling Tea, Tirupathi Laddu, Kangra Paintings, Nagpur Orange, Bengal Dokra etc.
